Following the way things are done in our everyday life a good rule of thumb to apply when dealing with a new merchant before signing up for an affiliate program is to get in touch with the merchant to determine how fast and adequately your question is dealt with. Do you receive a prompt response? How relevant is the response you receive? Whether it is a scam or not, it is not wise to get involved with a merchant that does not communicate well.

Try and determine if there are other methods of getting in touch with the merchant other than email. Is there a physical address? This does not necessarily mean that websites with no physical addresses are not trustworthy, but it is good to be careful.

You will know as to whether you a dealing with a reputable merchant because a good merchant will help the affiliates to succeed in a variety of ways. If that title isn’t an attention getter then I really don’t know what would be. Fact of the matter is that it is the truth; you can get really rich from affiliate marketing without a lot of effort at all. Let’s face it we are seeing some hard times at the moment and in some areas of the internet we see a noticeable impact it is making to the marketing niches of a number of marketers. Then on the other hand you see some areas just exploding because of the economical impact such as the work at home niches such as ghostwriting, virtual assistants and in some cases the rates of a lot of these areas are lower than seen typically over the years. Those who are more robust and innovative than the others will be the one likely to survive for it is not a matter of weathering a trend; no it is a full blown recession and money is hard to come by.

Before you throw in the towel, think about the ways you can become more adaptable to the changing market. Have you looked at where your traffic is coming from and if that’s changed? What makes these webmasters different from the other kind is that they are different and they think out of the box.

1. Concentrating on one format of Adsense ad. The one format that worked well for the majority is the Large Rectangle (336X280). It is important to know though that ads are displayed because it fits the interest of the people viewing them. So focusing on a specific topic should be your primary purpose because the displays will be especially targeted on a topic that persons will be viewing already.

Note also that there are many other Adsense sharing the same topic as you. It is best to think of making a good ad that will be somewhat different and unique than the ones already done. You can create lists of everyone you plan to give gifts to this year, lists of potential gift ideas and even lists of the actual gifts you select. All of this list making may sound tedious but this article will explain how all of these lists can be very helpful.

Making a list of everyone you plan to give a Christmas gift to should be the first step in any Christmas shopping expedition. The key to reaching your target audience on Craigslist is placing your advertisement in the most appropriate locations. Craigslist has a specific section for businesses to advertise their services. This section is broken down into a number of categories. Those who are in the business of computer repair would be wise to place their advertisement in the computer section as opposed to the automotive section because individuals looking for computer help will naturally migrate to the computer section. It may sometimes be appropriate to place an advertisement in more than one section. This is acceptable as long as it does not cross the line to spamming the section.

If there is not a specific section for the products or services offered by your business there are a couple of options. Business owners can place an advertisement in the section for small business advertisements where it might be found by those doing a search in this section. Alternately the business owner can contact Craigslist to suggest the addition of a new category. They might be willing to oblige if they believe this category warrants an addition.

Placing an advertisement in an appropriate section of Craigslist is acceptable; however, placing the same advertisement in nearly every section of Craigslist websites for a number of different geographical regions is considered spam. Spam is ineffective for a number of reasons. First of all potential customers who see a particular advertisement in a number of different locations are likely to recognize the spamming techniques and be less inclined to patronize this business. Also, if Craigslist detects the practice of spamming they may delete all of the postings and could potentially ban advertisements
from the individual in the future.
